Developing Leaders Inaugural REAL ESTATE RECESS Raises Money For Bridging

September 4, 2013 at 2:51 pm

For a while now there had been banter of organizing some friendly competition with other commercial real estate associations in an afternoon of networking.  In August the NAIOP Minnesota Developing Leaders (DL) made it a reality. The DLs organized an afternoon at the St. Paul Saints’ Midway Stadium where they invited the young professionals from MNCAR, CoreNet and MSCA to participate in the afternoon’s festivities which included volleyball, bag toss, grilling and kickball on the baseball diamond.

The Developing Leaders committee is very excited about the turnout of 50 young professionals at this inaugural event and the great feedback received. Dan Salzer, next year’s DL Chair, is already looking forward to building the success of this debut event and helping to raise more money for NAIOP Minnesota’s charitable partner.

Hudson Brothen of Cushman & Wakefield / NorthMarq summed up the event “The NAIOP Real Estate Recess was single-handedly the most fun I’ve ever had at a real estate event! I’m not kidding!”

Proceeds from the event are being donated to Bridging (www.bridging.org), NAIOP Minnesota’s 2013 charitable partner. Developing Leader Brian Hara’s company, Blackhawk Investment Group (www.blackhawkinvest.com) added a generous $815 charitable contribution on top of the event proceeds. Thank you to The Blackhawk Investment Group and to the NAIOP members that attended!

Next summer, DL members should be keeping a lookout to get in on the fun.  A big thanks goes out to the DL committee members who organized the event:

Ross Dahlin – North American Banking Company
Mike Derus – Wells Fargo Bank
Mike Claassen – CBRE
Dan Salzer – Wenck Associates
Boston Weir – Cassidy Turley

– Ben Bastian – CBRE Capital Markets | 2013 Developing Leaders Chair
