Federal-State Oversight of Appraisal Management Companies Under Dodd-Frank Act

The “Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Act” (The Act) establishes federal guidelines for real estate appraisers. The Act also establishes greater transparency and confidence through an impartial appraisal process.

Minnesota and 30 other states have adopted conforming Appraisal Management Companies (AMC) laws. State registration of AMCs is required, except those that are 25% owned and controlled by financial institutions.
