Recap | Celebrate with NAIOP

NAIOP donation - Catalyst Community PartnersThe Inaugural Celebrate with NAIOP Event was held on January 24 at Pinstripes in Edina.  The evening went off with flying colors and it once again exemplified the exceptional talent that the Special Events committee has for planning events.

KFAN’s “Common Man” Dan Cole kicked off the program after a couple of introductory remarks and the presentation of an enormousGabe Philibert wins Diversity Award check to Catalyst Community Partners.  After Mr. Cole finally established what the name of the organization was and that we all worked primarily with commercial and not residential real estate, he went through some rather humorous anecdotes, jokes and stories dealing with life, sports, and his inside perspectives.

Next came the awards portion of the evening.  Gabe Philibert of U.S. Bank won the 2013 Diversity Award for his volunteer experience among multiple organizations, and Lisa Dongonske won the 2013 Volunteer of the Year Award for her countless years of tireless volunteer experience with NAIOP both as the Minnesota president and as a member and chair of many of the chapter committees.

The highlight of the evening was the game of Jeopardy with NAIOP Minnesota’s 2012 president, Pat Mascia, pitted against Pat Mascia and Pat Mascia.  That’s right, teen Pat Mascia with his beautiful St. Thomas Academy uniform and corresponding medals, awards, and candy ring fought bravely against monster intellect lawyer Pat Mascia looking as all proper lawyers should, against developer Pat Mascia and his hideously beautiful jacket of honor (worn by the Duke employee who manages the building with the longest running vacancy).  The competition was filled with fun facts, interesting stories, and incredibly embarrassing teen moments from Pat’s past.

Gavel - Mascia - KordonowyFinally, it was the passing of the gavel to NAIOP Minnesota’s 2012 chapter president David Kordonowy with Steiner Development, Inc., along with a review of Pat’s stellar performance as the 2012 chapter president. Pat had a fantastic year, and we have no doubt that David will do the same in 2013.

Following the official portion of the program was bowling and bocce ball along with appetizers and the occasional beer (I use the word occasional loosely).
