Know Your Committees: Developing Leaders

January 17, 2013 at 12:22 pm

Developing Leaders Dinner With a WinnerIn an attempt to increase participation and knowledge of NAIOP Minnesota’s committees, the Communications Committee is starting a series called Know Your Committees.  Our inaugural committee spotlight features the Developing Leaders Committee.

What: The Developing Leaders Committee is a committee designed for young professionals aged 35 and younger.

Where/When: The committee currently meets over lunch on the second Wednesday of the month at the NAIOP Minnesota Office (4248 Park Glen Road in St. Louis Park), but the location may change.  Contact Ben Bastian (see below) for updated information.

Why: The Developing Leaders Committee provides an excellent chance for young professionals to become involved and undertake leadership roles in NAIOP.  The committee programs and activities provide its members access to decision makers and leaders of many of the Twin Cities’ leading real estate companies, access that would normally be unavailable to most young professionals.  Committee members also have the opportunity to participate in the mentorship program, through which many of the industry’s key players are teamed up with Developing Leaders to answer questions that the mentee may have, provide leadership and assistance, and potentially more.

The committee also provides a great opportunity for young professionals to meet and network with other future industry leaders.  Many of the past committee members have gone on to become influential in many areas of the real estate industry and within NAIOP.

Finally, the committee provides excellent educational opportunities and access to professionals from many different disciplines.  Committee members can increase their knowledge of numerous aspects of the real estate world and can bounce ideas and questions off experts in other fields.

Upcoming Events: Upcoming events include: Mentor Program Kick Off Event (Feb), Hope for the City & Happy Hour (Feb), and Educational Mini-Series (Apr/May/Jun).  For more information, check out or contact committee chair Ben Bastian at or (612) 336-4233.
