Recap: Where the Rubber Meets the Road: Freight, Supply Chains, Logistics and Sustainability
Intimidating title and subject? What’s in it for me you say? For those that braved to enter and attended the September 27th program on freight, supply chains, logistics and sustainability, they were certainly not disappointed! This NAIOP program under-promised and over-delivered with two exceptional subject matter experts in this fascinating arena. John Morris, co-head of Cushman & Wakefield’s Global Business Consulting Group based in Rosemont, IL and Richard Murphy, CEO of Murphy Warehousing in Minneapolis, delivered an informative, interesting and audience-captivating presentation to a room filled with attentive eyes, resulting in one of the highest rated NAIOP programs to date. Direct quotes from some of the audience evaluations NAIOP received included: “One of the best NAIOP or any other program I have been to … Great program, glad I came … Very solid program with actionable information … Tremendous presentations by both John & Richard … Interesting and original data to look over vs. the standard office, retail, industrial updates … Interesting information on a subject I didn’t know too much about previously.” What did you miss?
John opened up with a global overview of the four key trends affecting the supply chain and what it means for industrial real estate and us as consumers on a national basis. He discussed the effect of online purchasing, transportation modes, costs and trends, and how the generational effect impacts this industry. Richard brought us to a more micro level discussing the roles of 3PL’s, transportation capacity and specific site level examples of building design, locations and sustainability practices with real-life case studies of projects with impressive ROI’s. The depth and breadth of their discussion is far too much to summarize here, however both of their presentations can be found under “News and Announcements” at www.NAIOPMN.org.
The next time you’re considering a particular NAIOP program and uncertain about the subject matter, think not just about what’s in it for you and if you should attend, but what you may miss if you don’t.
